Overview

BiasBattle (“we”, “our”) is a free web service where you play ideal-type world cup tournaments. This page explains what data is processed when you use the site. We keep it simple: playing requires no account and stores nothing that identifies you. An optional free account (for creating tournaments) collects only an email address, a nickname, and a password.

Data we store

When you play a tournament, we store your picks (which entry won against which, the round, an approximate country code, and a timestamp) in anonymous form to build the public ranking statistics. These votes are not linked to your identity. If you create an account, we store your email address, nickname, and a securely hashed password; your nickname is shown publicly on tournaments you create. We never sell this data or use it for marketing.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (page views, approximate country, device type). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. You can learn how Google processes this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising and cookies

We display ads served by Google AdSense to keep the service free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent banner (a Google-certified consent management platform) will ask for your choices before any advertising cookies are used.

Embedded YouTube videos

Tournaments embed videos from official YouTube channels using YouTube's standard embedded player. When you play an embedded video, YouTube (Google) may collect data as described in the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. We do not host any video files ourselves.

Data sharing and retention

We do not sell or share personal data. Anonymous vote data is retained to keep long-term ranking statistics accurate. Our infrastructure providers (Vercel for hosting, Supabase for the database) process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
