ATEEZ are the fourth-generation success story that did not come from a big agency. Debuted by KQ Entertainment in October 2018 with the pirate-themed Pirate King and Treasure, the eight members built their audience abroad first, touring Europe and the United States within months of debut, and then brought that momentum home to Korea.

The music is theatrical by design: Wonderland, Answer, Guerrilla and Crazy Form are built around huge choruses, marching-band drums and choreography that treats every stage as a battlefield. Leader Hongjoong co-writes most of the catalog, and the group has kept a consistent narrative, from the Treasure series through the Zero: Fever and The World trilogies, that ATINYs follow like a serialized show.

In 2023 ATEEZ topped the Billboard 200 from outside K-pop's major agencies, a rare feat, and in 2024 they became the first K-pop boy group to play Coachella. If you want a group that wins on live performance, start here.

Start here: five songs

  1. 1

    Wonderland (2019)

The pirate-ship anthem and the group's definitive performance song. If you watch one ATEEZ stage, make it this one.

  2. 2

    Guerrilla (2022)

A rock-edged rebellion track that leads The World EP.1 and shows the heavier side of the group.

  3. 3

    Say My Name (2019)

The song that first got ATEEZ noticed. A dark, sweeping chorus and the introduction of the two-faced 'Halateez' storyline.

  4. 4

    BOUNCY (2023)

The playful side: a swaggering, bouncy single from The World EP.2 that lightened the group's image without softening the choreography.

  5. 5

    Crazy Form (2023)

The lead single from the album that topped the Billboard 200. A dance-heavy, chant-driven track built for the Coachella stage that followed.

Timeline

  1. 2018

    Pirate King and Treasure

    Say My Name, Wave, Wonderland

Three comebacks and a first world tour through Europe and the United States. Wonderland becomes the group's signature performance song.

  3. 2020

    Answer and Zero: Fever

Answer ends the Treasure series and brings the group's first music-show win. The Zero: Fever Part 1 EP, led by Inception, follows in the summer.

  4. 2021

    Kingdom and Deja Vu

ATEEZ compete on Mnet's Kingdom and follow it with Deja Vu and the Zero: Fever trilogy's finale.

GOLDEN HOUR: Part.3 arrives with Lemon Drop and a new world tour through arenas and stadiums.

Moments fans remember

The 2019 tour nobody expected

Four months after debut, ATEEZ sold out a European tour before they had a single music-show win at home. ATINYs abroad became the group's engine, and the reverse-import story is still the fandom's origin myth.

Wonderland at Kingdom

The group's Wonderland performance on Kingdom in 2021, with the members storming a pirate ship set, is the clip fans send to anyone who asks why ATEEZ are called the best live act of their generation.

Coachella 2024

ATEEZ walked onto the Coachella stage as the first K-pop boy group ever booked for the festival. Their set of Guerrilla, BOUNCY and Crazy Form drew one of the weekend's most-shared crowd videos.
